How to use Barilliance Live! to create social proof, urgency and scarcity notifications

What is Barilliance Live!?

Barilliance live! shows notifications on your pages which create a sense of social proof, confidence, urgency and scarcity for your visitors. The notifications include real time data such as number of shoppers and purchases.

These messages are:

  • Completely customizable to fit your brand

  • Integrates perfectly into your content

  • Optimized for maximum impact

  • Can easily be set up and adjusted

Setting Up a Barilliance Live! Rule

Note: Before Setup, please ask Barilliance Support to activate Barilliance Live Data collection for you.

Create a Barilliance Live! (V2) rule. You will see a settings tabs and a preview pane which shows the visual aspects of the resulting messages.

Message Type and Positioning Settings

Message types

  • Floating message - appears near one of the corners of the page as a floating tooltip.

  • Embedded message - appears near a specific content on your page. for example above the product image in a product page

  • Message Bar - appears as a Barilliance message bar at the bottom or at the top of the page.

Message Effects, position and timing

  • Position - sets the location of the messages.

    For a floating message the position is a corner of the browser window.
    For an Embedded message the position is a CSS selector of the element on the page. and an additional selector for messages that appear on the cart page (if any).

  • Effects - The messages can be shown using various effects such as fade in or slide in.

  • Messages per item - Maximal number of messages that can be rotated inside a message box.

  • Messages timing - Use 'Display message for' to set how many seconds to show the message.

Message types - General and Product

There are two kinds of messages. General messages and Product specific messages.

General messages can appear on general pages such as homepage, category and search pages and are not specific to a product whereas product pages need a product context and therefore can appear on product pages or near products in cart pages.

Activating and Editing a message

To activate a message - check its checkbox.

You can change the message text and use the tags such as {drop_percent} to enter dynamic content.
In this example you can also adjust the minimal price drop percentage and days. if the price drop rate has been less than the specified percentage or it has occurred more than the days range ago, the message will not be shown.

Styling the message texts

HTML can be used in the message text. for example use <br/> for new line and <b> text</b> for bold. For example:

Positioning Embedded Messages

Embedded messages are positioned in specific places on the pages, for example above the product image in a product page or near cart items in the cart page.
Select Embedded as message type in the Showup options to use this mode.


To show embedded General messages, simply put the CSS selector of the reference element in the the notification location box

To show product specific messages on product pages simply put the CSS selector of the reference element in the Notification Location box.

To show product specific messages on product listing in Cart or Shopping cart page.

2. The setup above defines the product boxes which represent products. No further action is required. But if you wish to put the message next to internal element in these boxes. put the selector of the element related to the box in the Cart/Category page selector.
